COLORADO CONSIDERS BILL TO LOWER AGE OF CONSENT TO TEN FOR CHILDREN WHO NEED PSYCHIATRIC THERAPY

House Bill 17-1320 in Colorado has been introduced in an effort to “reduce suicide rates”. The bill would allow a ten year old child to provide consent without parental notification to psychiatric therapy, regardless of the fact that the child is not of legal age to sign any kind of document. VAIB is opposed to bills of this type that strip away the rights of parents in caring for their own children.
