MN PARENT SUES AFTER LEARNING OF SEX CHANGE PROCEDURES PERFORMED ON HER CHILD WITHOUT PERMISSION
Released: Thursday, September 07, 2017
A parent in MN is suing the state after learning that local health officials were assisting her 17-year old son with sex change procedures without her permission. The issue at stake is that "government agencies are deciding children under the age of 18 are emancipated from their parents without a court order, notice, or opportunity for the parents to be heard." This violates the right to due process as guaranteed by the 14th amendment of the Constitution. VAIB supports the rights of parents in such cases to direct the lives of their children according to their beliefs without interference from the government.
