PROPOSED BILL IN CA WOULD MAKE IT A CRIME FOR CAREGIVERS WHO REFUSE TO USE TRANSGENDER PRONOUNS

SB 219, a proposed bill in California, would fine or imprison nursing home caregivers if they do not use proper pronouns for transgender people.  As stated in the article "It doesn't sound very American. You go to jail if you say something someone doesn't want you to say .... You can be put in prison for saying what you think is true. This bill criminalizes speech .... If you use the wrong pronoun, you can be put in jail. That's grotesque."  VAIB is opposed to bills such as this that restricts or criminalizes free speech as guaranteed by the First Amendment.
