TEXAS CHEERLEADERS UNDER FIRE FOR PLACING BIBLE VERSES ON SIGNS

Cheerleaders in a Texas high school are under fire for displaying Bible verses on signs at football games.  In October of 2017, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Texas ruled in favor of the cheerleaders, stating that the  “cheerleaders’ speech expressed on the run-through banners is best characterized as the pure private speech of the students.”  However, the school board is appealing the case to the Texas Supreme Court.  VAIB continues to stand for the First Amendment rights of free speech for students at public events, as these types of cases are becoming more prominent.  Read more here:
