Dr. Jack Knapp
Executive Director Emeritus
Dr. Jack Knapp is a native of Kalamazoo, Michigan. After receiving both his BA and MA from Bob Jones University in 1964 and 1965, he ministered in four different churches in Michigan and Indiana. In 1978 the Lord led the Knapps to Chesapeake, Virginia where he became assistant pastor and Christian school administrator of Great Hope Baptist Church and School. After several years of volunteer part-time work on behalf of the Virginia Assembly of Independent Baptists, Dr. Knapp became the executive director in 1984. He has continued with the ministry until the present day. His wife Judy has served beside him in this unique ministry as his secretary. The Knapps have two children: Judylynn Walton lives in Chattanooga, TN, with her husband Jeff, who is the executive director of the American Association of Christian Schools; Jack R. Knapp resides in Chesterfield, Virginia, with his wife Debbie, where they run their own business.
Dr. Knapp became the executive director emeritus in September 2011. He continued to work part-time with the ministry until August of 2013.
In 2012 Dr. Knapp was appointed to the board of the Virginia Department of Social Services to serve a four-year term representing religious-exempt day cares.
