Congressman Rob Wittman (Virginia District 1) co-sponsored legislation to further protect those of faith from discrimination by the government. VAIB fully supports this legislation which will help protect people of faith who oppose abortion.

Congressman Wittman released the following statement on March 14:

“As a member of the Values Action Team and the Pro-Life Caucus, I am committed to working hard for families in the First District by upholding the values of faith, family, and freedom.

Given our shared interested in protecting life, I wanted to let you know that I am a co-sponsor of H.R. 644, the Conscience Protection Act. This legislation would prevent the Federal, State or local government from penalizing, retaliating, or discriminating against a health care provider for refusing to participate in an abortion.

I believe it is critical that we allow health care providers to exercise one of their most basic rights—to live out their convictions without fear of discrimination from the government. This freedom is essential to the fabric of America. I’m proud to stand for this pro-life legislation, and I will continue to support the values that make our nation great.

Please do not hesitate to contact me anytime an issue that concerns you comes before the House.

It's an honor to serve you and Virginia's First District in the People's House.”
