After the Election Update
Released: Friday, November 22, 2013
By the time you receive this letter, our 2013 travel schedule will have been completed. We visited a total of 55 churches this year, including 8 new churches! We’ve already begun contacting churches for next year’s itinerary, and our goal is to be in at least 20 new churches for 2014 and to see most of these churches become involved with VAIB. Will you pray with us in this matter?
After the Election Update
On the day after the election, I got up, prayed, looked at the election results, had breakfast, and then readied myself for the workday. We go on no matter the results because we serve God, and He is still in control! The election results may not be what you or I would have wanted, but the will of the people was heard with one of the largest election turnouts ever for the top three state offices. Now we must roll up our sleeves and get back to work. Our state government depends on the work of the following three groups—the House of Delegates, the Senate, and the Governor—and VAIB will continue to cultivate relationships with all three for the purpose of strengthening our position regarding religious liberties.
As I go into the General Assembly session in January, I plan to meet each of the thirteen new delegates to begin building relationships with them, and I also plan to reconnect with returning delegates and senators. Keep in mind the special elections still to be held to replace the winners for Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General, plus another who unexpectedly retired.
Pray for me as I begin developing relationships with those newly elected and still-to-be-elected legislators in order to strengthen the position of VAIB. As important as it is to gain ground, it is just as vital that we hold our ground on issues which are crucial to our religious and individual liberties.
Pray for us as we continue to be . . . “Your voice for Christian liberties”
