July 25, 2017

Dear Friends,

It has been a joy for Carol and me as we re-connect with supporting churches. For some churches, it has been five or more years since our last visit. I am so thankful for the new churches which have allowed me to present the ministry and are considering regular support! I am also thankful for the supporting churches which have allowed Joe and Marty Naylor to give an update.

ONE Voice for Liberties Conference—September 28-29

Join us for the forty-first meeting of the Virginia Assembly of Independent Baptists on September 28-29. Pastor Don Sumpter and Landmark Baptist Church will again be hosting this event designed to educate and encourage Independent Baptists regarding religious liberties, church issues, General Assembly legislation, and so much more. Stirring music led by Steve Hall (Valley Baptist Church, Stuarts Draft) will lift your spirit as you sing with brothers and sisters in Christ.

Here is a message from Moderator Shahn Wilburn:

“It has been my privilege to serve on the steering committee of VAIB and it has given me an even greater appreciation for the work Eddy does. I have said for many years, of all the missionaries we support, VAIB is the only one that more than pays for itself. Each time we purchase materials for our ministries, we are exempt from state sales tax, because of the work of VAIB.

This year 836 laws went into effect as of July 1, 2017 but as always, this is only a fraction of the bills that were introduced. There are many which, if passed into law, would not only have been harmful to our Commonwealth but to our families and churches. I am so thankful that we have someone watching, opposing and informing us on such legislation so we can exercise our voice and be the salt and light the Lord has called us to be.

I look forward to seeing you at our annual meeting in September and would urge you to support or continue to support VAIB and the work that is being done on our behalf.”

I, too, want to thank those churches who bring a special offering to help with conference expenses. But there are also many individuals who give, and some who have given even beyond the conference to help this ministry. THANK YOU!  All gifts are tax deductible and VAIB will send you a receipt for your gift.

Please pray for God’s blessing on this invaluable meeting. Here’s the current schedule and speakers for Sep. 28-29:

Regional Luncheon at Abingdon Almost Here!

On August 12 from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, VAIB will be hosting a free luncheon for pastors who are willing to come to The Community Center of Abingdon (300 Senior Drive NE). While invitations have been sent to surrounding churches, I have been asked by pastors farther away if they could come. I welcome any pastor who is willing to make the drive to join us. You will hear from legislators from that part of the state and get to ask them questions. You’ll also get an update on the work of VAIB. Please register by Friday, August 11, by contacting me at or at 804-299-3986.

As always, we are here to assist you. You can contact me at or call the office at 804-299-3986.

Your voice for Christian liberties!
