General Assembly 2021
For over forty years, the Virginia Assembly of Independent Baptists has been working on your behalf in many ways, including at the General Assembly. The 2021 General Assembly session will present a new challenge, as they will be meeting virtually. Contact with legislators will be limited to emails, phone calls, or online meetings (like Zoom). Even with this challenge, we will continue to do everything in our power to effectively influence legislators regarding legislation that impacts areas of concern for our churches and communities.
Informing Churches 2021
Over much of last year, our churches were faced with challenges brought on by COVID-19 and the numerous executive orders given by Gov. Ralph Northam. As these orders were given, we did our best to provide information to churches regarding changes these orders would bring. It was our privilege to stand in the gap for so many. For several churches, visiting in person to provide updates was not feasible, and we were able to provide online or video-recorded updates. If you would like an in-person, live-online, or video-recorded VAIB update for a service, please contact us to set it up by email at ealiff@vaib.org or by phone at 804-789-1278.
Legal Resources Related to COVID-19
What should a church or Christian school do if there is exposure to COVID-19? Do they need to close? Legal counsel for VAIB wants to be sure you do not cross a legal line. You can contact our office or find help at ncll.org/COVID-19.
Our Deepest Thanks
I want to express my deepest appreciation for those churches who continue to give in support of the VAIB’s mission to ensure Virginia churches are able to spread the Gospel in their communities unhindered. Please pray for us as this session will be done virtually, requiring us to contact legislators by phone, email, or other electronic means. As with so many things this year, adjustments must be made to carry out our important work. Whatever the challenge, we must continue to trust God while working with all our ability to minister to people.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 804-789-1278 or ealiff@vaib.org.
Sincerely,
Rev. Eddy Aliff
Executive Director
